Our History

OURROC-SWF continues a long tradition of maintaining an organization for the benefit of our Member Communities in Southwest Florida.

The Founders of OURROC were Bob Snyder of Sun N Fun in Fort Myers, Gary Matthews of River Forest Village in Punta Gorda, Bill Bauer of Oak Park in Alva, and John Schueller. OURROC was incorporated in 2015.

Over time more communities joined OURROC, as they realized that what OURROC offered in education and constantly-updated information on Florida Statutes and practices for resident owned community leadership. With six monthly open meeting/programs in fall-winter-spring season and an annual Florida Statute Board Director Training, OURROC became a valuable asset.

Today the elected board members of OURROC, each an unpaid volunteer, work all year long to provide educational programs that are interesting and desired by the member communities. We also have some professional members who offer their services to OURROC in programming, information, and legal advice.

Feel free to contact our President (see the email for the current president under the CONTACT drop down menu to the upper right of every page) with your ideas for new programs, with questions you need answers to, and of course any ideas for improving our meetings and association.
